Question about a Mosrite 12 string acoustic Glen Campbell played in '68

Postby jkantor1312 » Thu Apr 09, 2020 10:42 am

We know Glen religiously played a Balladere I in '67 and some of '68. I had never seen this video...and thusly had never seen a 12 string version of the Balladere (right?). Is this a one of...or just a rare Mosrite. Thanks in advance for chiming in.

Not that I ever paid much attention to the few Mosrite acoustics, but I've never seen another 12 string Mosrite Acoustic.

A few years later, I can tell you that yes: Mosrite did make a 12 String Acoustic. I was researching the Balladere, and Alan Miller shared with me photos of vintage Mosrite ads for the Balladere.

That said; the only model I know of that fits the bill is a 12 string version of the "Balladere III" model; a "403-12" model. Knowing Deke Dickerson's word that Mosrite Acoustics weren't made with good wood in the first place, and then don't have enough bracing, I'm not sure how much better a 12 string model would be. You might expect more bracing.

And so far, I've never seen a single 403-12 for sale since I registered here over 13 years ago! However, I didn't pay attention to sales every day, either. Mosrite Acoustics weren't something I paid much attention to until once I started the Serenade Serial Number List in May 2021. I've only just started with the Balladere models!
