Tremolo spring spec

Postby sumlin » Wed Jun 19, 2019 8:54 am

Hi all

I recently became the owner of a 66 MkV - it's a lovely guitar but I'm wondering if the tremolo spring is the correct spec. It seems to leave the arm very close to the tone/volume controls and hard to quickly grab at when playing.
Does anyone have the specs for the factory trem spring so I can compare?

I will change it out either way for a slightly taller spring to give me a bit more height and ease but it'd be nice to know what it would have come with in 1966.

You might check with Bob Shade of Hallmark Guitars. He may be able to sell you a compatible spring.

Suggest checking with a shop that makes or sells springs, they may have a spring tester machine, and could measure the spring force.
