Refinishing a Ventures Mosrite

I am so sad about it, but at some point someone decided to refinish a Mosrite Ventures model. They didn't get too fat. The body has been stripped. The headstock is still original black. My guess is this guitar is mid to late 60s. If I go ahead and get the body refinished, I will have to choose a color. I've considered black, but would that be accurate? I don't know if it should be sunburst, the headstock itself is black, not sunburst. Photo attached (if I can do it). I don't see exactly how. Any advice?

Looks mid 60's. does the tailpiece say Vibromute or Moseley? Black or sunburst body would be historically accurate for the black head stock. The tuners are not original

That's definitely from '65 or before as it's a Vibramute tailpiece.
Sunburst or black would be appropriate for the black headstock. Is the back of the neck refinished at all?

Actually, I would clean up the body & refinish it clear coat. You don't see any natural Mosrite finishes, & since it already had the finish removed, I don't think it would matter as far as collectibility. It is nice looking wood.
