Hello, I am a pretty new to guitar playing and very new to guitar maintenance. My grandfather recently gave me his '65 Mosrite The Ventures Vibramute and upon some inspection, I notice that the neck is twisted. The high E buzzes horribly and is close to the edge of the fretboard. So I'm just looking for suggestions on how I should go about getting this guitar fixed. I was completely unaware of this guitar maker until he gave the guitar to me, and from my understanding Mosrite isn't really around anymore so I cant really go to them directly.

Are you sure it's twisted and not simple out of alignment with the body ?

First off, congratulations on your Ventures model. It is a valuable instrument and hopefully can be restored to playable condition.
The problem you are describing may be relatively simple to fix or may require a skilled repairman.

If you want to shoot some pics of the problem areas & post them maybe we can discern what a good fix might be.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the Mosrite. It's not easy to tell from the photos. It could be the neck needs a little shim to move it over. There may be something going on with the bridge. A good guitar tech or luthier could evaluate it for you and give the guitar a once over.

I second what Sarah said. I'd bring it to your local luthier/guitar tech and they should be able to correct this issue for you.

Also kind of looks like your string guide is bent.

In your second photo, it appears like Gonkulator said, the string guide looks wrong. Also like I mentioned before the neck may need to be realigned to the body.
The string guide appears to have been removed and replaced at one time. A luthier can remove it, clean up the area and remount the guide, it just looks misaligned. The fretboard at the Low 'E' end of the second fret, appears to have file marks. That could be WHY the strings have been shifted toward the High 'e' end of the neck. I don't see fret markers, did this model have them. If they are the very small black markers, if you look straight on at the fretboard how do the strings align with the fret markers ? The strings should appear to be evenly spaced with the fret markers.

Yes, there may be somewhat of a misalignment there, not too bad though.
Do you want to post some pictures of the other end of the neck too?
Even right down to the opposite end of the strings, maybe we can see what is going on there...
