Mosrite S.M. (Semie Moseley Model, 1976-78) - What about it?

There's barely any information at all about this scarce guitar online, the most information about it is here at the forum. I don't know when these were made or how many were made.

I'm wondering what the history about this model is; so far, all I know is it's likely to be a "The New Mosrite of California" era Mosrite guitar and it seems to have used the same body as the Bluesbender and Brass Rail models except it's not carved. Did they only make it to use up leftover parts before they switched to just making Ventures models? It seems to make sense, given that most of the few I've seen online (I can count them all on one hand) are Black (with one exception owned by a forum member being a non-factory Sunburst.)
