Too bad about the Celebrity I, it looked really gorgeous, but we can’t own them all, right? That red one looks very close to the Celebrity that I own. Mine had the smooth cover pickups, but I just swapped them out for pickups more like that one (for the higher output). I love it. Good luck in finding your guitar. Keep us posted.

Huh, this second one has cheaper tuners on it (see the plastic knobs on the ends.) Is it a Celebrity II? I'm surprised if it is, I thought they would have had metal-end tuners.

The Celebrity I models have the most depth (thickness) on the guitar body;
Celebrity II and III models are thinner but are the same depth;
Celebrity II models still have pickups with pole pieces and a Vibrato unit;
Celebrity III models have the cheaper pickups and no vibrato.

With that said I'm surprised at the dark looking cherry colored finish on this one. Here's the link again and the image hotlinked:

Hello,

The chap who is selling it says everything is 100%
original, however I was unsure about the tuners as well. Please see advert below:

Thank you all for the replies, you have all been most helpful. I missed out on the Celebrity, but I have my eye on another one!

This one is in the US, has a serial number of A-0767 and dates back to 1965. The chap also says it comes with the original case and is in excellent condition. He has shared pics of the case (not pictured), sound hike sticker and pots and neck which look fine.

Could I ask what people think? Love the red...

Hi Andy,

I see this guitar is on Reverb. It looks to be in excellent condition and the price seems very good to me. It is a Celebrity-I which will give you great tone either plugged in or acoustically. I can tell you it is not a 1965 vintage. Semie Moseley did not receive the patent on his Tremolo until March of 1966. This guitar is most likely 1967-1968. According to the photos it will come with the original Victoria Luggage case. These are very hard to find these days and a case in good condition will bring $300 by itself. I think you found a bargain and I would not hesitate if I were in the market.

Let us know how this works out for you.

Sarah

Thank you ever so much Sarah. Would you say everything looks original, including the tuners?

Yes, I would say so. I can't read the back of the tuners but they look like Kluson. Normally the tuner "buttons" on this model would be metal instead of the "butter bean" style. But, Mosrite often times made due with what they had in stock. As far as I can tell from the photos everything looks original. Usually these have nicks in the finish on the headstock and this example seems to be quite prestine. Overall it looks to be in exceptional condition.
