Nice combo you got there, but whats the story with the line on the headstock?

thank you. i am not so sure about the line on the headstock....the guitar definitely did not come to me that nice, a little bit of a rescue beyond my abilities. i wonder if someone scalped the headstock before coming to their senses? i hate to think too much about it. (btw-thanks for the pointers on using dropbox, picure!)

I've seen several Celebrities with that line across the headstock. I recall someone telling me that for a while the headstock were cut at different lengths depending on if it was a 12 string, a bass, a 6 string, etc. and then the glued the piece onto the end. It's strong but leaves a line in the finish many years later. If anyone knows of a different story, please share.
