Unfortunately, we can't see the color finish on the body, but Ron had no problem playing a Mosrite Bass
with "the Ventures Model" Logo on the Headstock  .....But now, this raises the question once again....
What, IS the story on Ivan's Gold Finished Bass with the S/N #0001 ?!?!?!?!?
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.
.........Owner of 9 Mosrites...
.....proud owner and documented:
1963 "the Ventures" Model s/n #0038

Wow; the last post in this thread is almost exactly two years old to the day.

I've just gotten another response back from Andy Moseley regarding this gold bass.

<<Yes, I remember this bass --it was made as a part of 2 Gold guitars and the one bass--the guitars went to EDDIE DEAN-- THE COWBOY SINGING STAR AND THE OTHER ONE WAS GIVEN TO MY SON MARK--Eddie has died and the guitar is kept by relatives I have been told--the other guitar is unknown due to the fact it was stolen years ago. >>

Closure at last...

Claims it's an original from '67. Don't know if it's a refin:

Check out the other photos too.

This is the guitar I restored years ago. The guy who purchased it from me listed it on Ebay not too long ago. Nice pic's of it with it's new owner! http://www.flickr.com/photos/view-finde ... otostream/

By the way, I still restore old Mosrites if anyone needs assistance, I still love to do it.

Bob,
Did you refin that guitar gold? It looks great.
Hmmm. Maybe a 60 Custom in gold with white pickup covers....kinda like a Les Paul P90 Goldtop..... 8-)

Yes I have been thinking the very same thing. With a nice bound body. Yes that is my work. I also refinished the neck too.

Not to hijack this thread, but do let us know when those gold/white covers and binding 60 customs are around. :D

As for the topic at hand, so it looks like there were no gold finished Mosrites other than maybe a few basses or custom orders during the 60's.
