Need advice on a Celebrity ii

Ok so, here it goes. I came across a Celebrity ii and it's about 4 hours away. From the pics, it looks to be in near perfect condition. I can't tell from the pics if its the orig roller bridge or not. It appears to have bound f holes. Also the case doesn't appear to be original, but I don't know. The seller is elderly, his daughter returned my email, and I want to make a fair offer. The asking price seems high to me, he's asking 2 grand. I have 2 Celebrity 1 guitars and I paid just under a grand for each of them. And they had the orig Victoria luggage cases. So, anybody have a blue book range for me on a blonde celebrity ii from around 74? Anyone know what the case would look like from that era? Is assume that later mosrites wouldn't have the Victoria case. I have a friend who lives near the seller, and could prob have him do the deal for me. I don't want to insult them, but I also want a good shake, so... I feel like 750-1000 would be a solid offer. Let me know what you think. Thanks kindly!!

Looks like $1300.00 tops to me with no Vibrato and push buttons and wrong bridge.

Thanks. I thought that the bridge looked too small and too shiny. I actually like the fact that its a non tremolo because both of my others have them. I do wish it was a trapeze type though. What do you mean by 'push buttons'? I guess I'm a cheap Missourian, but 1300 seems high to me, I was kind of thinking 800 with the issues we've pointed out. Idk... going to think a while before I respond to their email.

What do you mean by 'push buttons'?

This Celeb was a 70's model which sometimes featured 2 black push button phase switches. One for each pickup.

These 70's models are rarer and in my opinion worth a bit more than the standard Celeb. The guitar also came in blonde which was not an option in the 60's so it is a rarer color as well.

Ok, thanks for the input. I didn't know about the push button phase switches. One of my two 60s celebrity i guitars is blonde and has stereo outputs, which from what I have seen, also seems to be somewhat rare.

They weren't phase switches--they were tone (and I think volume as well) control bypass switches. I've heard that some were wired as coil splitters, but I've never seen one like that. It's likely early-'70's--the one pictured in the '73 catalog, when Mosrite was distributed by Pacific Music Supply, was the same color as yours, but had the pushbuttons and a Moseley vibrato with a separate baseplate. I used to have a Model 350 Stereo that I bought new in '74 with the same pickups, except that the neck pickup was slanted.

Ok, so Im going for it. I worked out what seems to be a fair deal for both of us, and my friend that lives near the seller is picking it up for me. It may be a while before I have it in my hands, but once I do, I'll let you guys know how she looks. Thanks!
