Mark V restore completed....

Well, actually completed some months back. The spicing of life has kept things quite busy this year so just had a few minutes to enter this.

Wow, that looks great Tom! For what it's worth, your guitar is a Mark I, i.e. "The Ventures Model".

Thanks for the info (Mark 1)....I was going on the assumption that since there is a "V" in the sn that it was a 5,....Is the V in the SN possibly just standing for "V"entures?

This was the epitome of a 'basement-find'. I was taken back by the damage and very surprised as to how much of the original was still able to be salvaged.
There was a lot of moisture damage from probably sitting in a corner of a basement for years.....this had to be under the heading of restoration as it was well past any possible conservation.
A lot of 'this' is deciding if you want restoration or conservation...Conservation will net more value generally...it would keep the finish as original as humanly possible, maintaining the patina; including pitting and wear...there is no comparison to a nicely used vintage instrument....Cherish those imperfections.
