Mark V new proud owner

Postby Diceophonic » Mon Sep 22, 2008 9:17 am

Here's a piece that has become my new vintage fulltime surfin' buddy for the last few months a late 60's Mark V
I picked her up last June for about $1,895 from TrueTone Music in Santa Monica, Ca with it's original case
This Mark V is everything I felt a Mosrite would be like just amazing and now it's mine!!! it's in my hands there's no other guitar like a Mosrite.

Nice guitar! Never seen a MKV in sunburst before today, then I go and spot 2! Do you have any history behind it at all? One unusual thing is that it has pups with pole pieces unlike most models that had humbuckers like my MKII, were they replaced at some point? *EDIT* lol, nm, just saw your post in the 'Mosrite pickups' thread!!!

There is one just like yours for sale on ebay right now in the UK, but its a MKII with the trussrod at the body end...

Welcome back Kyle! About time!
Jason, the pickups on all Mark Vs are actually single coil pickups although Semie did make Humbuckers like that as well as ones with screws later on. However the Mark IIs and Mark Vs were all single coil with no screws. Oh and BTW, the seller on E-Bay is incorrect and I'm sure someone will let him know. Although it says "the Ventures II Model," that's exactly all it is, a "Ventures II Model. The Mark II was the same body style without the German Carve on the Body (i.e. Johnny Ramone Model), and the Neck was not as deep into the Body. The Mark V has the German Carve on the Bodies like you guys  .
Johnny Ramone Model before he modded it-also note location of the Vibrato arm:

and of course, the Mark V:

Notice that the Neck Pocket is not as deep on the Mark II, and this is why:

and the Mark V:Image
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.
