I don't think you can apply a specific date to the changes but more like 'around that time'. Probably the embossed covers would be a later 64', as well as the neck plate change. With the pot dates on mine, it is no doubt a mid/late 64'. Production guitars would probably have updated changes as the old stock of parts were depleted which could mean anytime of the year.

Thank you Danny. That's very interesting. I did not know there were smooth covers without the logo. I have not seen any of these on a Celebrity. I think Bob Shade has the first production Celebrity and the pickups on his has the Mosrite logo. The two prototype Celebrities that I'm aware of have the logo on the pickups.

Good stuff!

Danny,
Thanks for your input. I didn't want to do this for fear of chipping the brittle finish on this guitar but I took the neck off the guitar yesterday and there is NO date on the heel of the neck. If there is it is painted over with Candy Red paint. Pots look original but can't read any stamping through the whitish corrosion and solder. So all I have to go on here is the #1344 on the neck and the time frame when I bought it. The rest is what I am searching for. This guitar has a 4 bolt neck 2 long, 2 cut shorter so the screw tips don't extend into the PU cavity. curved neck plate and again no date on the neck or in the cavity. Totally Semie. :)
I am attaching a link to a song I recorded right after we bought these guitars. You will hear the sound of the Mosrites and the influence of the Ventures/Zombies/Kinks in the music. Quite progressive for 16 year old American kids. The pix you see, circa eaarly1965, are of Three Mosrite guitars all bought on the same day with the money the record company advanced us. A white Pearl Ventures Looks like a large logo, My Candy Red Small logo and a Sunburst bound side jack Bass. Again nothing the same ..But The sound Ahh the sound.. Guitars through Fender Showman Amps w/ external reverbs and Bass through Ampeg B-15
Enjoy this..

Tony, that was a really cool song - thanks for sharing!

So, when you guys bought the Mosrites, were they sold as new? I'm just wondering how long a sidejack bass might have been hanging in a store.

I can't get it load to view or hear. I must have unknown settings on my computer that are not compatible.

Dan
That's an mv4 file if you're using windows media player you might have to add it to your preferences. Quicktime or itunes should work also.
