I can't find much information about musician Lou Martin. Any information or anecdotes out there? I understand he was from Bakersfield.

Sounds like a job for Deke when he gets off tour. Did you just snag that one off eBay?

Yeah, maybe Deke will know. Does it qualify as a snag? I guess so. Sure looks like a beautiful guitar.

hey,
if my memory serves me right, that looks a lot like Jimi Hendrix's double neck.

Pretty sure the Hendrix guitar is white, not natural.

I remember the guitar from eBay, but I have no idea who Lou Martin is. I am sorry to disappoint you guys, ha ha!
Anybody ever seen a metal PLATE like this one attached to a Mosrite body before? I'm just wondering if Lou had it made after the fact, or if it's factory.

The hyphenated spelling of Mosrite ["MOS-RITE"] makes you wonder if Semie himself had mounted that plaque

...BTW besides it being a "doubleneck", it's also a "quadruple-strap-button"

(a "first time" for me)
This one's a fine looking instrument handbrake, I prefer the white pick guard to the black one on the doubleneck reputedly having belonged to Jimi...

Thanks for that closeup, handbrake!
I've seen original engraved neck plates on Mosrites from the '70s through the '90s, but never a plaque like this. The hyphenated "MOS-RITE" also seems peculiar to me because the hyphenation was dropped relatively early on, well before these production Maphis doublenecks. My guess is that the plaque was probably affixed by whomever ordered the guitar for (or presented it to) Lou Martin. I can't imagine the guitar left the factory with all those strap buttons either...Lou must've had extra arms to require that many straps!
