The reason is that you have all of your wiring (pots, switch, jack) in one, easily accessible place. It may not look pretty, but anyone who's ever had to go fishing through a hollowbody understands its purpose.

That makes sense. I don't own a hollow body guitar and haven't worked on one so I wouldn't have known.

Beautiful guitar Semie is holding......it's interesting that there isn't any pickguard on it....
But it sort of "streamlines" the look .....
