Yeah, and if colleges gave recognition, a person could earn a PhD studying everything Semie made during his life.

The fingerboard is maple but has what looks like an rosewood veener between the fingerboard and the neck .
thanks in advance

I don't remember ever seeing a Mosrite with a maple fingerboard. A photo would help sort things out. -Terry

Just a SWAG, but I have put new fretboards on guitars by milling down to "almost the neck", then gluing a new fretboard in place, trimmed down to an appropriate height...this repair has had excellent success where the old fretboard is not "restorable." Plus, it looks kinda neat! 8-)

i played one at a shop about a year ago and the neck was killer. it had a three piece maple neck and then had a dark slab on top, probably rosewood, and had a flamey maple fretboard on top of that. some of these 80's models I've noticed semie would space the string guide much farther back from the zero fret compared to 60's and 70's models. i dont know if that was for any reason or it was just semie being semie...

There is a signed Bass in black at Chicago Music Exchange in "not sterling" condition for about $4000.
