What's amazing to me is how both Techwriter and Okieblur signed up on the forum within hours of each other and both had sidejacks!!! When it rains it pours.

Exactly! Good thing you didn't shut down the Forum Danny; we have been rewarded with some fresh (old ;) ) Mosrite blood flowing again in the Forum's veins, thanks to Okieblur and TechWriter at this point :P

Lots to talk about.

Notice that, while the string guide on okieblur's '63 is a wooden one, TechWriter's isn't. It's a metal one (aluminium?) and perhaps a replacement or possible upgrade -done perhaps even by uncle Semie himself!?
The two ugly screws holding down the oval-shaped side jack 'plug guard' need to be replaced too. Try to avoid ebay; we've seen someone selling VERY expensive original Mosrite screws lately... :?

Hey Paul! Good point. I remember someone on this forum who has a collection of Mosrites had earlier versions with wood string guides and the later ones with the metal (all within the first 200 serial numbers). Maybe someone on the forum can give an idea about what point those started to transition over from the wood to the metal.

On the album cover in Paul's avatar (knock Me Out) you can see that the red guitar has a the wooden string guide while the lower guitar has the metal one that we are more familiar with. Just thought I would point that out as I have had the album since the mid 60's and just noticed it myself.

Good reminder Don, this very feature on said album has previously been mentioned in the past here, now that you mention it ;)
