I was looking at that guitar but decided to wait for a triburst that I can afford. Glad to see you get it.

Re: A new Mosrite owner
Got the guitar this evening. It's a nice axe and I am one happy camper. I still don't like those damned old speed frets, but I love that Mosrite sound. I thought the Hallmark pups sounded nice but they just don't have true original Mosrite sound. It reminds me of comparing the multitude of reissue Strat's with my original '62. They all have that familiar Strat sound but they are still missing something, or maybe as Zak would say 'comparing apples to a motorcycle helmet'.

Well the older guitars I respect more as they were built and crafted by hand by people that cared about what they do. These newer cookie cutter guitars are built using cnc machines and precision routers and not a whole lot of handwork go into them yet they charge outrageous prices for them. But nothing will be as good as the originals.

Re: A new Mosrite owner
Update:
This is really bizarre. I just opened up my new Mosrite to check the dates of manufacture and what a shocker. This guitar is dated: Body, Jun 20 1966, Neck Jul 1(?) 1966. Here's the exciting part. The sunburst guitar that I restored and sold to Desert Surfer last year was dated, Body (month and day obliterated but appeared to be Jun or Jul)1966, Neck Jun 20 1966.
For a couple of weeks in June and July 1966 was the short time that I worked evenings as a part time help employee spraying the clear finishes on Mosrites at the factory on P street here in Bakersfield. I am blown away and darn near had a heart attack when I popped the neck. Before I was excited when I found the dates on the my previous Mosrite and was reluctant to sell it just because of that factor.

If guitars could talk, these two would probably say to Dub, "Haven't I seen you someplace before?"

Wow, that's amazing. I always had a feeling that the guitar you restored and restoring now knew you when you worked there!

Danny,
The guitar looks amazing. Consider the fact that you may have clear-coated this one! When do you think you will get to work on the restoration? I want to try it out.
