Whew!
Thank goodness I'm not the only one.
Gotta go ... it's cold here and I have to make sure I've given it enough blankets.
It's so good to know I'm not weird.
Bill.

Congratulations! Your guitar is the twin to mine. And, it is only 7 away in the serial number. Mine is K0772.

I have determined that mine is a 1966 so I would guess that yours is likely a 1966. The 1965 Celebrity's did not come with binding, so it can't be a '65. Also, in 1966 they added the "Circle R" after the Mosrite name on the pickups. The 1965 does not have the circle R, so I would guess since yours came after mine that you will find the Circle R on them.

Unfortunately you don't have the original knobs which is one way to date it. They came with the "M" knobs with "V" on the Volume knob and "T" on the Tone knob starting in 1965 and in late 1966 they changed to a similar knob without the "V" and "T" that was slightly taller. Mine has the "V" & "T" so I know that it is not a late 1966 but rather more likely a early to mid 1966. In 1966, they added a block of wood under the bridge that was not on the 1965. You can look into the F hole and see this block.

You can easily check the date codes on the pots if they happen to be stamped. Just carefully unscrew the four screws holding the white plastic plate and the entire assembly will easily lift up so you can turn it over on it's back and see if there are any numbers stamped on there. If so, let me know and I can tell you how to read the code.

As for the metal Kluson tuners. That was the most common feature, esecially on the more expensive guitar. Some of the Celebrity's came with the plastic keys which is what I have. The metal ones are an upgrade over mine. My guitar also came with the Moseley half Tremelo.

By the way, there is another thread with more information about mine that you may want to read for additional information. So again, congratulations! I love my guitar and am so delighted to finally have one. I hope you enjoy yours! I'll post a picture of mine so you can see it.

The Bose L1 system is absolutely wonderful as a PA to run microphones through. You can also run two guitars through it and that is fine if you like a very clean sound. I play mostly hollow body electrics and just love the sound of a tube amp. I have a Fender Blues Deluxe that my Celebrity sounds amazing through and I've heard it thourgh a Mesa Boogie (Frontman?) as well. The Bose has a great bass speaker by the way and a bass guitar does sound great through it and the Bose handles it just fine. I'm speaking from the perspective of a guitar player and not a bass player so my ears probably aren't dialed in like a bass player would be. I like the portability of the Bose and quick setup and breakdown. I'm doing small gigs and it works awesome. Even if I don't take the tube amp I will still play my guitar through it as a backup amp.

Sarah,

You might want to try running your guitar thru a digital modeler like a Line6 Pod, Vox, etc. before going into the Bose. I had great results running my Epiphone Alleykat into my pedals, then a Pod 2.0, and then into the Bose. You get a more amp-like tone that way. By the way, after seeing your Celeb, now I want one too!
