HELP WITH MOSRITE MODEL IDENTIFICATION

Postby Eric L » Sun May 07, 2017 6:10 pm

Hi this guitar is signed and dated on the back of the headstock ( looks like 1984 but it may be an open 9 instead of 4 ). It's serial # is AF028. It has no tone control just a volume knob and a pick up selector switch. Was this a certain model or just a customers special order.? Thanks Eric ImageImageImage

The signature on the back of the headstock looks like Semie Mosley's. it looks like all of the other signatures I've seen. My guess is it was a custom order.

Hi Eric,
AF IIRC denotes After Fire, which appears to refer to the Jonas Ridge NC fire that destroyed at least some of Semie's shop.
However legend has it that he rebuilt the Mosrite factory and the first ones produced then had the AF prefix.
Here's a video of the first Jonas Ridge shophttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auq16LKq1vo
And the second Jonas Ridge shophttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSBEudhK8Ds
I find it no coincidence that the finish on yours has both a 'fireburst' finish and that flamey neck! :!: Thanks for posting.
Enjoy!
P.S. no surprise both videos contain Semie singing and playing his own Gospel music...

-- The year would be '84! Amazing guitar, she is a stunner!
The gangster looks so frightening, with his luger in his hand
When he gets home to his children, he's a family man
But when it comes to the nitty-gritty, he can shove in his knife
Yes he really looks quite religious, he's been an outlaw all his life
