Hi gang, I haven't been on the forum in a long time!
Currently restoring a Celebrity project that I found. Overall it's in pretty good shape, but where the two neck screws and bushings attach the neck to the body, it has some pretty serious cracking and breakage right there at the holes on the body. Typical problem, I know, but what does one do to fix this problem? Craploads of super glue injected into the wood from the neck joint side? Reinforcing plate? Of all the Mosrites I've ever owned, never owned a Celebrity before, so this is a new problem for me.
Advice appreciated!

If you've got a spare neck plate floating around, the easiest solution would probably be to convert to a four bolt neck joint. If not, get two more screws and bushings and add those to the sides of the two existing ones.
Then get rid of those lousy stock pickups and load in some Dimarzio Super Distortions.

Has the neck block moved?
I thought that the two bolt Celebrities had two hidden screws inside holding down the end tongue of the neck.

Mr. Bill--that may be. I will have to look and see if this one had those screws in it originally. I got the guitar in pieces, looks like 99% of the parts are there.

Hey Deke,
I haven't been on in a very long while. Perhaps I can offer some suggestions. It sounds like the neck joint you have is a mortise and tenon joint with only two screws. Like this:

Assuming that is correct, it also sounds like you might mean the metal bushings that the screws go into that usually get all broken into bits. Is that right? If so, I have the bushings you need.
If you can post a photo, that would help a lot.

Re: Celebrity neck joint/bolt on problem/solution?
Hi Sarah, thanks for that, sorry it's taken me a while to reply. The bushings I have are in good shape, it's that thin body area that the bushings go into that's all cracked. I think I'm going to take it to Steve Soest in Orange County, he did wonders injecting super glue into a cracked neck joint on another guitar I had a few years back. I'll post a progress report when it's done!
