Hi all. I have missed getting on the Forum this last month. But travel has had us very
busy. To the topic at hand. Last November I posted a photo of a old 60's standard 6/12
Double Neck that I gave Semie cira. 1987, to be converted to a 6/6. Some of you asked if I had any photo's before and after. Here's what I found. The guitar had the standard bolt on necks. In the second photo is the guitar after it was completed. The instrument Brian Lonbeck is shown playing is that guitar. I am hoping to find better photo's. Semie did this conversion for me a couple of times on 6/12' s. As a 6/12 they were not something I wanted. The one thing I had Semie do was to make the guitar conversion with SET Necks (Glued In). When I got the guitars back, you could never tell the body had bolt on necks in it's original form. Also the conversion removed one of the pick-ups on the top neck. (Not needed). Goof plates and hiding what was,--Semie was
great at this.

Also a update on Andy Moseley. I talked to Andy on Wed. 3/10/010. He should be going home on Fri. 3/12/010. If all goes well.

Love to all and great to be back on the Forum.

Elaine Frizzel

Just a tangent, but reading the title of this thread gave me a cool idea: A useful doubleneck to me would be a 6/6 with two full scale length necks, and the top one tuned Nashville. I've never seen that before, but it would be a nice one to have. Almost the same notes as the octave neck in fact, but maybe a little easier to play for chords.

That is very interesting, Elaine.
Personally, a double neck would best serve my playing style if it had a baritone neck. Imagine replacing the 12 string neck with a 30 inch scale neck tuned an octave down, or, at least tuned A to A below standard E to E. Do you recall anything like that ever mentioned by Semie or any of the other players who used Mosrite double necks?

I've been looking at a 6/12 double neck in my area. It's a Gretsch Duo Jet and sounds great. It weighs 14 pounds but isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I've found it difficult to even find 6/12 setups as most of the double necks I find are not really pro-level quality. Most of the Gretsch double necks I find are 6/Baritone setups. I wish I could afford a Mosrite 6/12 but they are very high these days.

Those are very cool pictures Elaine and as always, great stories to go with them. It's great to have you back on the forum!! :D

yeah, sarah, I came soooo close to getting a 66 double neck in 2005 that looked exactly like the double neck above in it's original form. black headstock and sunburst neck, it was an amazing guitar. the price was 2800 then. it's hard to find that now. The next day I wreck my car when I hit a deer, and that money had to go towards repairs instead. I hate deers to this day, lol.
