Hi All;
I'm John from Los angeles. I own 3 Mosrites. A '66 Mach 5, a '65 ventures 2 (B174) that someone before me had sanded the german carve so now it looks like a white junior mint. I
bought it (body,neck, all hardware) for $120.00. I am looking for a slab body and decal to replace it. And finally I own a '66 s/b Ventures. I was the original guitarist for GG Allin and the Jabbers back in the day in New Hampshire. I guess that's it for now...very cool site by the way.

Naw; I had family business to take care of. I also missed the guitar show in Costa Mesa. But we have another in August. Maybe Soest will have some Mosrite parts. I often go to Arties in Bakersfield. I showed him my Mosrite tattoo, so he took me out back and showed me all these prototypes, pretty awesome. I guess on the earlier ones Semi used a pencil eraser to mark the fret dot markers; interesting stuff. Artie's really cool.

GG Allin! I tried to go to one of his/your shows here in Chicago back in the early 80's. Now there was one wild guy.

Welcome to the board.

About that Ventures II I have. It obviously was not the slab body, but the headstock is much thinner in width than a Mach 5, similar to the latter. Also the low serial #. I'm just bummed that someone ruined it. I affixed a form fitted Ramones pickguard to it, so it kinda looks better. BUt all in all it sounds good and it was dirt cheap.

Johnny, a form fitted Ramones pick guard will not fit a MARK V. And I believe that a '65 Ventures II with that S/N might be a MARK II. Supposedly, there were less than 200 of the MARK IIs made (some people are now saying there might of been as few as 25-50 made, who knows?).
You had mentioned that it 'was obviously not the slab body,' but you also had mentioned:
"that someone before me had sanded the german carve so now it looks like a white junior mint."
Does it look like a slab body now, another words, no German Carve? And the Headstock WAS smaller on the MARK IIs.....just curious..... :shock:
