Mosrite owner from Melbourne Australia

Hi everybody. Murray from Melbourne here. I own a couple of 70's Mosrites, one a bluesbender that I use for playin live and Ventures model. Came across this forum coz I was trying to work out how to lock off the tremolo on my ventures model so I can use that live as well. I use different tunings for a couple of songs which is a pain with the tremolo. Noticed their was a rare Johnny Ramone model with a tailpiece similar to the Mosely tremolo tailpiece but without a tremolo. Anyone know if you can buy these tailpieces somewhere or know of a non destructive mod I could make to the Mosely tremolo to lock it off. Probably a post for a different section but thought I may as well throw it out there while I'm here. All the best.

Welcome to the forum!

As for locking off the vibrato, I've seen guitars with the spring removed and a chrome socket of similar size inserted in it's place. It's non intrusive and easily reversible.

Hi Murray, good luck locking down your trem. My recently bought MIJ Mosrite had a socket like Danny describes. Because I like to use a trem, I removed the socket (7/16th) and fitted a new coil spring that has just the right tention. No worries about keeping her in tune. Welcome aboard. ;)

Thanks for the advice on the tremolo issue. I'll give the socket idea a shot
