Hello, and thank you for adding me to the forum. My name is Terry, I am 30 years old, and I currently own 4 Mosrites, and two projects. The first two that I purchased were from a local music shop owners private collection.I was actually looking for a Univox High Flyer because I saw Kurt Cobain playing one. In a photograph I saw, it said that the Univox was a Mosrite copy so I started looking for a Mosrite.I first saw them both about 18 years ago, played one of them, and could not afford to buy either one of them.As luck would have it about 1o years later I had enough money and went back and he still had the same three Mosrites that he had 10 years earlier. A blue Ventures 6 string, a Sunburst Ventures 12 string, and a red Joe Maphis double neck. I bought the blue ventures model( this was the one I played when I was 12)and then bought the Ventures 12 string years later. The 12 is in PERFECT condition, but the blue one was well beat up.I got a great sound that all of my black sabbath loving friends loved out of that guitar in my heavier days. The bands sound I was in at the time revolved around that Mosrite thru a Big Muff thru a Marshall.Anywhoo, just recently I have bought a sunburst Mark V, a sunburst Joe Maphis double neck, and I just acquired a black celebrity body purchased in a lot from Semie in 1981 after the fire, that has no mounting holes of any kind.So the exciting thing is that when its finished I will be the first person to ever play it.How cool is that?I know that my double neck, and the celebrity will essentially be partsrites, but I dont care. I will put great effort into purchasing all original parts, and it will be real enough for me.I greatly respect and appreciate the design and craftsmanship of Mosrite, and nothing else comes close. I own several Mosrite copies also, because I love the Mosrites so much that I also appreciate guitars inspired by them as well. I realize this may not jive with die hard Mosrite guys, but its all in respect to Semie! Also, Im lefthanded and play all of these guitars upside down.
