Hi All,

Another new member here. I have owned a Celebrity II for over thirty years. I bought it in 1979 while attending GIT in Hollywood. It has just been returned from a long term loan and I got some wiring issues dealt with as well as an action adjustment. Now it plays and sounds better than ever. I did some internet exploring and found this site. My thanks and congratulations to all who have contributed to its existence. Apparently the known serial numbers for Celebrities start at 2DL012, and since mine is 2DL008, I thought it should get added to the list.

Some history: In '79 I was lent a Blues Blender (Blues Bender?) by a friend who lived in Bakersfield. He knew some people who were living in a warehouse that had apparently been a Mosrite factory. They were building guitars from left over blanks and that was where the Blues Blender came from. I was instantly hooked on the Mosrite neck - perfect for my hands. Within weeks of returning that guitar, I met a man at a jam session who had a beautiful orange/blonde Celebrity. I asked where he got it, went to that music store (since forgotten the name of the shop, but believe it was in Hollywood) and the owner said he knew where the last one was. We got in his car and went to a warehouse somewhere in LA where we went upstairs and found the Mosrite in a cardboard box. It was missing the knobs, pickguard, and truss rod cover. The music store owner added Gibson knobs and fabricated some rather ugly but functional replacement bits for me from styrene. I got it for about $300 (no case).

Been playing jazz for years but have recently been recruited for a blues band. The Celebrity will be perfect for that duty.
