Hi everyone,

It is a pleasure to become a member of the Mosrite Forum. I'm Glen, 54 years old, and live on Long Island, NY. My musical tastes lean toward the 60's rock n roll (Beatles, Stones, 60's British Invasion and of course the Ventures and Shadows.) I just purchased my Mosrite on ebay which I believe to be an early 2000's Kurokumo Super Excellent re-issue of a Mosrite '65 Ventures Model. There was no paperwork included with the guitar so I searched the web for information to help me feel confident that it was a Mosrite. That is how I stumbled upon this forum and I devoured all the information I could toward identifying the guitar. This forum and the knowledge shared by its members along with the history of the Mosrite which I was totally ignorant of was an unbelievable help to me in making my purchase. It was shipped to me via EMS and arrived in three days and I have been enjoying it as much as possible since it arrived two days ago. All that said, please let me know what you think about the guitar, and most importantly, in confirming or not, that it is what I think it is. I look forward to your input, comments and questions and in becoming a part of this great community. I will add an avatar once I figure out how.

Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure offhand whether that's a Fillmore or Kurokumo, but either way you've got a very nice guitar!

I'm with Mel on that. With only the one small photo it's hard to tell. Look's like there were about fifteen other photo's but they won't come up to view.

Can't comment on the pedigree, but I can say, "I likes it b'y!" I always feel good with a guitar that feels good while I'm playing it...the rest is secondary IMHO.

Thank you all. I see that the ebay seller has removed all the pictures he had posted on the auction which would have provided lots more detail. It has a "Vibramute" Tremelo with "Mosrite of California" inside the black area. Both pickups have the molded "Mosrite of California" logos as does the headstock, along with the small "The Ventures model" logo both of which are under the finish (i.e., not decals applied on top). The volume and tuning knobs are smooth and rounded (spun?)

Also the OHSC included with the purchase has "Mosrite of California" on the middle of the lid. A portion of the case appears in my avatar.

Based on what I read on the forum about the appointments of both the Fillmore and Kurokumo, I concluded it was a Kurokumo. I will post some pictures if I can figure out how.

What's the give-away? Body color? Case logo? I know the Kurokumos have a small Mosrite logo on the neck plate, and the "M" knobs and "Excellent" vibrato on the base models, but what makes this one stand out as a Kurokumo?
