Dr. Bill;

Welcome back to the forum. We really hope you can find time to visit often. Growing up in the 60's, Sam The Sham and the Pharaohs, were one of my favorites. You will never know how thankful I am for the line, "You sure are looking good. OWOOO. "
Please come back often and tell us some stories.
What an honor....
I clicked on the link for the license plate, but it showed me an error ?

Thank you Dr.;
Dan

Hi Doc!

It's great to see you posting back here again. If you send me your photos to my email, I'll upload them to my hosting site and post them in this thread for you.

Who are you people talking to? Is this "Dr." Bill Hudson who he claims to be which is not verified by my research. I'm not making this up and I'll appreciate it that if you can prove me wrong, that you do so in a non-hostile manner for I'll appreciate accurate refutes.

Once again my words may be taken out of context but my research results below and in 2 continued replies is solid and if you do the research as I did your results should match mine. I was a confirmed fan of Sam The Sham And The Pharaohs and their 1965 hit record "Wooly Bully" when it was played on Top 40. So, in scanning this forum I saw Sarah's reply which sent me on a search. First, I went to YouTube and watched the poor quality black & white video trying to concentrate on the guitar player but the resolution wasn't good enough to see details and the guitar that the guitarist was playing looked for all the world like a regular Gibson archtop. Next, I went to Wikipedia [Sam the Sham - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia] and there was no mention of Bill Hudson with and without "Doc". All of the original members of The Pharaohs were named. Next, I did a Google search and the only link to Bill was his initial post here (Thu Oct 13, 2011 1:41 pm), nothing else except a link to a YouTube - Bill "Doc" Hudson with a Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs ... - Facebook

I did not recognize the song they played. I also looked at Google Images and I had to add "Doc" since without it nothing came up. Then there was a link at YouTube for Dr. Bill Hudson playing "Wooly Bully" but there was no informative text so to me it was just a group of musicians doing a cover. I have a dear friend who is the most fantastic bass player as he uses all ten fingers (!) and he calls himself Barry "Doc" Zander.

So who are you people talking to?

Part 2 because the Facebook link seems to have affected the code for text.
Notice that in the Wikipedia "bio" (between brackets) there is no mention of Bill "Doc" Hudson
[Wikipedia
In Dallas in 1961, Sam formed "The Pharaohs," the name inspired from the costumes in Yul Brynner's portrayal as pharaoh in the 1956 film The Ten Commandments. The other members of "The Pharaohs" were Carl Miedke, Russell Fowler, Omar "Big Man” Lopez and Vincent Lopez (no relation to Omar). In 1962 the group made a record that did not sell. The Pharaohs disbanded in 1962.[5]

In May 1963, Vincent Lopez was playing for Andy and The Nightriders in Louisiana. When their organist quit, Sam joined. Andy and The Nightriders was Andy Anderson, David A. Martin, Vincent Lopez and Sam. The Nightriders became house band at The Congo Club near Leesville, Louisiana. It was here that Sam took the name Sam the Sham from a joke about his inability as a vocalist.[5]

In June 1963, The Nightriders headed for Memphis, Tennessee and became the house band at The Diplomat. In late summer 1963, Andy Anderson and Vincent Lopez left to return to Texas. Sam and David A. Martin replaced them with Jerry Patterson and Ray Stinnett and changed the name to "Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs." Shortly thereafter, the band added saxophonist Butch Gibson.

The breakthrough hit
After paying to record and press records to sell at gigs, Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs wound up with the XL label in Memphis. There they recorded their first and biggest hit, "Wooly Bully", a song about Sam's cat, in late 1964.[6] Once MGM picked up the record, "Wooly Bully" ended up selling 3 million copies and reaching No. 2 on the Hot 100 on 5 June 1965 at a time when American pop music charts were dominated by the British Invasion. It was awarded a gold disc.[7]

Although "Wooly Bully" never reached #1, it lingered on the Hot 100 for 18 weeks, the most weeks for any single within the calendar year 1965, 14 of which were in the Top 40. The record achieved the distinction of becoming the first Billboard "Number One Record of the Year" not to have topped a weekly Hot 100 and remained the only one for 35 years until Faith Hill's "Breathe" and Lifehouse's "Hanging by a Moment" in 2000 and 2001, respectively.[8]

The Facebook link triggers an error page so I'll remove the URL plus and keep my fingers crossed. But if you go to Google and enter - Bill Hudson sam the sham and the pharaohs - you'll see the video links for Bill "Doc" Hudson. The following was part of my reply but the Facebook link constantly triggered an Error page so I removed the URL and attached text.

[Next, I did a Google search and the only link to Bill was his initial post here (Thu Oct 13, 2011 1:41 pm), nothing else except a link to a YouTube - Bill "Doc" Hudson with a Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs ... - Facebook]

BTW, while you guys have been fawning over an impostor's claims, look over the 4 pages of this thread. Aside from his initial claim that "I am the original guitarist from Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs..." and unsupported in the evidence I presented, he did not post anything connected with his claim. No tales, no photos, nothing except his doubtful story about him, Semie, his guitar, etc., but NOTHING about him and Sam. Doesn't that trigger your curiosity to research his claim as I did and came up wanting. NOTHING to support his claims.

However, if any of you can offer any evidence that negates what I've posted, please reply with such.

Does it really matter? All that can become of this is actually... nothing. I'd say drop it and not worry about it. If you really want an answer challenge him via private message to explain why he calls himself the original guitarist.

My god Eduardo, can you please stop being a negative person on this forum. Would you go on to challenge me if I said I was one of the original guitarists of A-Rod's Atomic Theory?

Sarah, any way you can post the photos of this Celebrity? I tried going to the google links but got nothing but errors. I'd be really interested in seeing the details of this guitar!
