Gweetings from the Wet Coast...

Hi all.

My name is Mel and I'm the lead/rhythm guitarist for The Fabulous Blue Diamonds (TFBD for short). We're what's left of a group of retired instro players dating back to the mid-60's (The Blue Diamonds) that don't gig any more, we only do studio/recording work now (too old to be our own roadies)... Thus we play/jam/record for fun now. I'm 60, retired and I don't want to work any more...:D

My influences somewhere between Hank Marvin/Duane Eddy/The Ventures. I met the Ventures in the 60's was in awe. I think we wore out our "Learn To Play Guitar With The Ventures" albums... :D

I've never had the oppurtunity to get/afford a Mosrite, but use a Hallmark Custom 60's (with Lollar pickups), and an Eastwood Sidejack Deluxe.

Without a doubt.

From the "face palm", "road burn", to the "it can't get any better than this" moments. While at the time, they seemed earth shattering, now we just look back and appreciate the fact we got through it. Intact. Some how. Somewhat...

For example, it's really hard to convey the secure feeling you get playing in "less than stellar venue" where the only thing between you and the crowd is the chicken wire in front of the stage that's supposed to stop "projectiles" (at this point you're pretty sure your manager is a bit cranially challenged because he just keeps saying "it pays good").

Then again, I'll wager every musician that ever graced a stage has had some of those "moments" at some point...

Actually, no...kind of a goofy story so I’ll condense it a bit...I've written software since 1978 so, I wrote a URL database manager for a friend back in the early 90’s. Any way, my friend was very happy with it and the deal was he had to come up with the name of the application. He said it was super fast, fast like a rabbit. He suggested "Rabbit" as the app name.

However, since I’ve always been a big cartoon fan and more than a little left of the ballpark, he called my application “Wabbit”...about that same time I was getting in more "sewious" software development and wanted to register my company. It seemed like every ruddy name I tried to register was already taken. So I took the last form, filled in yet another nine “choices” of company names to register under and just for a laugh the 10th name was “Wabbit Wanch Design”.

I never actually thought the first nine wouldn’t make it through. Rrrriiigghhhtt...

Try to imagine our surprise when our business registration showed up with Wabbit Wanch Design. Yep. Jaw drop and then just laughter.
