Hello my name is Don I'm 46 and I live in St. Louis. I am currently playing in a Ramones Tribute band and we have our first gig on Easter Sunday. I own 2 M.I.J. Mosrites and just purchased A 1966 Ventures V model. Minus the re-fret it's all original.
My recent purchase is my reason for joining the forum. I know I'm going to need some help getting it tweaked since I don't
know that much about Mosrites and getting accurate info on the web is hit and miss. What better place to go but a forum dedicated to Mosrite.

Take your time soaking up Mo' knowledge and enjoy the forum at the same time ;)
You must feel pretty exited about doing a first gig; have fun and as Mel has already suggested, let us know how it went!
Welcome here Don.

Hey Don, welcome to the forum. Sounds like good times ahead with the band. There's lots of info here so you should be able to find what you are looking for, if not just ask.

Welcome, Don. As others have said, there's a lot of Mosrite expertise on
these pages. Enjoy.

Welcome to the forum. Is this your MK V?

Its beautiful. I'm guessing it wasn't refretted with the closest to original fretwire, Original speed frets were .070 wide and .022 or .020 tall on the bass side with a taper to .015 on the treble side. Nobody seems to make fretwire in that width now though, The closest you can get is Dunlop Accu-Fret #6340 which is .072 wide and .035 tall.

Refret it with that size then sand the frets down to the appropriate height (Or a little higher if you want more life out of the frets) And you got it.
