Howdy from Oklahoma !

Postby EFElliott » Tue Sep 02, 2008 9:59 pm

Howdy there guys, Ed Elliott here,
Here's just a little about my love afair with the electric guitar.
Well I've been playing, repairing, buying, selling, trading and
building electric guitars since my early teens. Went to work
for my childhood hero, Semie Moseley when I was 19 years old.
I got to work with Semie on the first Ventures model reissues and
the last Brass Rail models that were built.
After Semie left Bakersfield I hooked up with him again in 1983 in
Jonas Ridge, NC. Where I lived with Semie and Loretta most of that
year. Building Ventures model guitars all week long and playing bass
for Semie at his Gospel Music Concerts on Sundays, it was pretty cool!
After I returned to California I went to work for Ernie Ball in San Luis Obispo
as a supervisor building Music Man Guitars & Basses.
In 1992 I moved to Oklahoma, Today I stay real busy at my little one man shop,
Building E.F.Elliott Custom Guitars, Basses, Electric Mandolins and winding a few Mosrite
style replacement guitar and bass pickups.
Well, I think the Mosrite Forum is a real cool thing and hope to add my 2 cents
worth every now and then.

Welcome aboard Ed!

I can vouch for Ed's Mosrite replacement pickups, as I have them on my Mosrite VIII three pickup model, and they sound every bit as good as my '66 Ventures model.

So, Ed, from your experience working with Semie, how, if at all, would you say the manufacturing process of Mosrite guitars changed from the 60s to the 80s?

Hi, Ed: Welcome to our forum. I just posted your link a few weeks ago. Interesting guitars you make. I heard you also make great mandolins. (used to play a little blue grass guitar and banjo but never learnt how to play mandolin...)

Look forward to your input in the fuuture.

Hi Eddy,

Welcome to the forum. Glad to see you're going to be participating here and looking forward to your involvement. Got the bridge base made for the saddles you sent and the bass pickup's sound great. Thanks!

Welcome, Ed!

Here's one of your guitars I own from the good old days, 1978. Signed and dated in the neck pickup route. Am I bringing back any memories?

Hey Ed! Nice to meet ya. I hope that you'll be able to share your wisdom with our little group here.

Were you building the Van Halen guitars while you were at EB?
