Well, I thought I was already registered, but that was quite awhile back, so maybe I fell off the list.
A Ventures fan since age 11 (1964), I spent a lot of time drooling over the Mosrite photo that was on the reverse side of many of The Ventures' album covers. Spent my youth wishing I could have one, but played a number of Japanese import guitars during that time (Teisco, Univox, etc.)
In the 70's & 80's, I moved upscale a bit with some Fenders, Gibsons, Ibanez, and so on, but still didn't have a Mosrite.
And then Semie started building Mosrites in North Carolina! In the late 80's my uncle's stepson arranged a visit for us to Jonas Ridge and I met Semie, got a tour of the shops, and left with a white '87 reissue.
Yep, that's me in the "A Day With Semie' video some of you have seen on YouTube. My uncle's stepson shot most of the video (that's him at the end with the 88 Prototype). Last year I converted the tape to iMovie and my buddy ("Guitaremania") in Canada posted the video (along with Semie's stage performance) to YT a few months back.
I still have the '87 Mosrite in that video and have added a '66 12-string sunburst Ventures Mosrite, a '96 Ventures Stratocaster, an Aria VCM-2001 Ventures Model in candy apple red with white binding, and an Aria VCM-2001 Ventures Model in sparkle blue without body binding. I've had all of the guitars autographed by The Ventures after various performances at The Birchmere in Alexandria VA. Also had the opportunity to hang out with the band at their Meet N' Greet at EPCOT 2009 Flower Power series.
Look forward to talkin' Mosrites and guitars in general with ya!
