Great pics! I need to steal your bass player. We've been looking all over the place for a girl bass player.

Here is the story...

Postby captain fuzz » Tue Mar 30, 2010 8:31 pm

Since people are already asking, here are some details. Around 1995 I saw a white mosrite looking guitar on the wall at guitar center in SD. $125 The logo had been sanded off the headstock, it had humbuckers, two v & t knobs (gibson-like), a weird royal blue pickgaurd, and no whammy bar, replaced by a Leo Quan 'badass' bridge. I bought it that day not really sure what it was. I later confirmed it was a real mosrite neck and body (serial #B1493). Who would do that to such a cool guitar, maybe a meth addict. Anyway I played it like that for several years, it actually sounded pretty good. But I was on a mission. I got the logo decal from Steve Soest in OC. While on tour in Tucson I found a shop that had pu's and knobs. (BTW this place used to be legendary, in the back was piles of old gear, the bass player bought a hollowbody bass and matching mosrite bass combo that day; I recall at least 4 or 5 more mosrite amps sitting back there covered in dust). Now I had everything I needed to restore my prize(except the whammy bar). The white finish was pretty beat so I had it refinshed in daphne blue and Fred from the Repair Zone in SD put it together for me including cutting out a pickgaurd (I stayed with the 'badass' bridge) That was in '99 and I have been playing it since. I feel fortunate to have such a guitar and use it for gigs and recording regularly. The amp story is just as good.

See ya,

CF

Thanks for the interest. The two songs on the myspace I definately used the mkV. (not to be confused with the 12 string ricky)

Hey Captain Fuzz welcome! You're playing with the great Mike Stax! Cool! I'm a fan of his bands since the Crawdaddys!
Greetings
