Hi David welcome to the Forum......Ive been into Mosrites since the 70's and have owned a few over the years...
Mosrite Mark I candy apple red 1966 (past)
Mosrite ventures II Red 1965 German Carve (past)
and now I just perchased a Mosrite Ventures II Blue Slab body( Present)
So im just getting back into them again myself.

Welcome to the forum! You did good buying that guitar. The seller is a well respected friend and member on this forum. He knows his business and only deals with high end collectible guitars.

Before I bought it, a friend of mine had clued me in that he was one of the good ones...

I really can't wait to get my hands on it.

Thank you to everyone for their responses - I'm pretty active on several forums and this place seems to be the friendliest. I'm looking forward to getting to know the people here (some of the other places fill me with dread ;) ).

MWaldorf - if you are from Alameda and like Mosrites, I'm guessing you must like the Forbidden Island...

Yep a great guitar, beautiful, from respected person in guitar business.
Mel - Where is this Forbidden Island. I live in the Bay ARea, maybe I should check it out-Mosriters there I suppose...any Gruggetts'?

Forbidden Island is a tiki bar here in Alameda. It's very authentic to the 50-60s faux-polynesian feel of the originals, and the drinks are excellent. I can attest to Mosrites and Gruggetts having been seen there as I've played both there with my band.
It's definitely worth a visit.
