I've owned Gibsons, Fenders, Peaveys, Hagstroms, Guilds, Ovations, Silvertones, Partscasters, PartsPauls -- and played most of the rest of any reputation...but never a Mosrite. I thought -- and still do think -- they're aesthetically ugly (especially the "broken-board" headstock) -- but whether the one I have in my possession is Fake, Fillmore, Firstman, whatever...it sounds and feels great!

The zero nut makes intonation a non-problem...and the neck is something to really smile about. Skinny but buttery and with a resonance to die for!

The guy I got it from swears he bought it in the '60's [he's a preacher and preachers don't lie...do they?].

Has a Mosrite label on the headstock but NO "of California". And no serial number anywhere. The neckplate has a small "Japan" stamped into it. The pickups have Mosrite stamped on them [again no "of California"].

I've been unable to discern the model, manufacture date, or even if this is a real Mosrite. And having never played a "real" one, I really have no reference point other than how well it plays in comparison to my other guitars [Les Pauls, Strats, etc.].

I love the Moseley-branded tremolo -- its playability reminds me of the Vintage '66 Fender Jazzmaster that I sold recently.

In any event, I really like this guitar and would hope that somebody here could help with the identification process. I can upload pictures if necessary.

I can see already that I'm going to enjoy this site -- and I belong to Fender Strat, Fender Tele, Peavey T60, Surf101, sites as well.

Hope to be here for the long haul!

Well come to the happy world of Mosrite ownership !!!!
