Re: New member from wisconsin
Wow thanks, what a welcome(!)
I play in a band called the exotics...we don't have our marketing as together as say...MESHUGGA BEACH PARTY (you guys are great!) but have a facebook and of course MYSPACE page.
I do confess that I was especially interested to see what I could find out about here about the combo because I was eyeing one up and I as it turns out I ended up buying it. I think maybe I should start a new thread on the vintage board with all of the details.

Saw The Exotics open for The Fleshtones years ago at Double Door in Chicago, great band! Welcome to the forum. As I recall, your bass player was using a Jerry Jones longhorn bass. And a bastardized version of The Astronauts opened, with a guy playing lead on a pedal steel. They weren't very good. Also, a rep for the Rolling Stones was there that night checking out the club, The Stones played there the following wednesday. I had no idea who he was and he kept asking me if I liked The Stones. They opened their tour in Chicago that year.
any chance of you guys playing Chef Shangrila for tiki night anytime soon?

Re: New member from wisconsin
haha, yes jon our bassist is still playing that longhorn. and i remember that show at the doubledoor and hearing about the stones show shortly afterwards...on the face of it it seems almost ridiculous that their rep was walking around asking people if they were into the stones!! you must have been really bummed when you heard about the show. not sure about chef shangrila, probably not before fall. our bass player has got a musical gig (every single day for 6 weeks) this spring which is making scheduling more difficult than usual. by the time summer rolls around we'll be gearing up for sg101 and tiki oasis. i have good memories of playing at forbidden island but it's amazing how quickly things turn into a haze, i would like to go there again and drink a mai tai! mel, i see you guys recently played there...i am a little jealous:)
the combo came today...some good, some bad.
i will post some pics tomorrow.
