As Dennis points out there seems to be case candy with this guitar and I've asked Ken to photograph them as well. I'm pretty sure this one is not the 5th Celebrity made. Even though it is an low number it would be the 9th of the M series and I'm pretty sure the M series weren't first either. It is stunningly beautiful and I've been wanting to add a CE-II to my little collection. I would love to be able to afford this one!

I am happy to say that this guitar makes the 100th Celebrity that I've been able to catalogue. I have photographs on almost all of them and have been studying them to see the differences. It's quite fascinating actually. I think my website will go live pretty soon. I've downloaded some software to build the site and I need to decide the "theme" or overall look and feel of it.

I can tell you as I've looked at all of these Celebrities that I find differences in the size of F holes, pickguard shapes, headstock shapes and sizes, bout shapes, knobs, pickups, logo style, logo colors, guitar colors, and perhaps more. I hope this all translates in clues to narrow down the year of a guitar by looking at it's distinct features.

I finally broke down and wrote a email directly to Nokie Edwards of the Ventures. I'm hoping that he remembers my aunt and the story behind the guitar. If he happens to have a guitar within 4 numbers of mine, then I will have my answer. I'm going to clean out two garages of my aunts next month, I wonder what else might turn up. She only moved 4 times since her days with the Ventures, there might be stuff there.

No good news to report. I'm visiting California to look for more guitars in two packed garages. It appears that family members have beaten me to anything good. I found two guitar cases that I hadn't seen during my last visit. Stranglely, they were rear the from the unit on top of everthing. I would not have missed them during my last visit. They were not there before, the contained a couple of pieces of junk guitars. One with a broken neck and no hardware, the other used golf pegs to hold the strings on. I'm guessing, if there was another Mosrite there, it's gone. :(
