Hello from So Ca.

Postby brc » Wed Mar 05, 2014 3:18 pm

Just wanted to chime in and say hi.
I started playing guitar around 1956 or so, and have owned hundreds of guitars.
I was part of a group in the mid 60s to early 70s and we actually had great success, cutting a few records, and doing some TV.
I then opened my own shop in Las Vegas during the 70s, and still do some refinishing work from time to time.
My guitar collecting had starting to get a little out of hand for a while, so I thinned out the heard down to 34 or 35 guitars now.
One of my favorite guitars is a Mosrite I found at a garage sale for $75.00. It was complete, but in boxes. The only item the guitar needed was a tremelo arm. Great playing guitar! Hope to meet a few more Mosriteites, and read the stories on their guitars. I get a kick in reading where the owners bought, traded, or just came about owning their own pieces of guitar history.

Want to give Mel a big shout out. There was a hitch when I tried to register, but Mel was a big help.

This is a picture of my $75.00 garage sale. Please excuse the bad photo. I will take better pics as soon as I can

Thanks for the welcome every one
Bob, This is the guitar I e-mailed you about last week that needs the tremelo arm.
The guitar was complete other than missing the tremelo arm, so I was lucky in that aspect.
I had to refinish the guitar, and the neck, re-wire the pick-ups.
Also, just remembered, I need 1 strap button. I would like it to be an original Mosrite part.
I will e-mail you again in case you do not read this post.

thanks BRC

Welcome. :) Your refinished guitar looks like the Hallmark sparkle finishes.

The color is actually a candy pearl orange. I originally refinished the guitar in the stock maroon color, but because there were a couple of minor pieces that are not original, I just made the choice to change the color to this candy pearl orange.
It is difficult to see in this photo, but this color really pops in the sun light.
I have owned a few Mosrites, and have enjoyed all of them, but this one just seems to fit my playing style better than the others.I should have kept them also, but when some one walks up and hands you an outrageous amount of money for a guitar, well------- they be gone
