Thanks all for the welcome back! Don't worry about the CAS (Cowboy Action Shooting) burnout too much. I've actually been fighting it off since my last guitar project a couple years ago.

Now I am in the middle of a P-Bass that I've got a few coats of Daphane Blue on. But the temps got too high out here in AZ (110+) and now I am having to wait for cooler weather to spray anymore paint.

My Strat is a Partscaster. It has a '94 maple neck, with an orginial '62 body and unknown p/ups that are mind-boggling. My youngest son who plays a Ken Lawrence Explorer, has begged me to will it to him. It is a sweet guitar.

I'd love to have a Mosrite, (specifically Danny's met. blue bass ) but I guess I'll have to stay happy with my Fenders.

Am I the only one here that never considered the Mosrite to be a "surf" guitar. Or should I say I never considered the Venture to be a specifically "surf" band? I was just getting serious about guitars when I discovered the Ventures, and they seemed to play an endless variety of music. To me it was just guitars. and the Mosrite was the guitar that they played. Is Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, The Pink Panther Theme, or Journey To The Stars considered "surf" music?
These are just my opinions of course, not meaning to argue. Was I brought up all wrong. Maybe I need to call mom.

The Ventures were never surf music as far as I'm concerned. I feel that they are in a league of their own!

Also I don't like to pigeon hole a guitar. My opinions of Mosrites have never been to think of them as surf music instruments.

I used to own a music store. I was a Dean guitar dealer in the eighties. Deans have carried a reputation as heavy metal guitars, but that doesn't stop me from playing "The Old Rugged Cross" on one, Sunday morning in church!
