Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to play a Hallmark 60's Custom, most photos of the band will be of the Mosrite or the Esquire. I may have to check one out based on some of the comments I've read here already.

Well, because I thought you were playing one, that was the final push to get mine. Honest.

You guys are good. Good tight production and a great retro sound. Like other "old timers" here, it takes me back to a particular time in my life long ago.
I'm with Mel-the Combo organ and Mosrite work together well.
BTW--don't stop playing the Mosrite!

Thanks guys!
I am currently trying to find a piece of super-thin metal to fix my bridge, so hopefully the Mos will be back.

Hey man, nice compliment...thanks 8-)

So how do you like the Hallmark? I've had a chance to check them out and they look like great guitars.

It basically replaced by 6120 Gretsch as my main guitar for my main band, I use the Gretsch in my cover band. The neck of the Hallmark is more comfortable for me, kind of like the neck of a 52 Tele RI with vintage frets. I have played a few vintage Mosrites and I find the necks way to thin, just couldn't get use to it. The trem on the Hallmark is smooth and after a good stretching of the strings it does not give me any tuning problems but I do use 10-52 gauge strings on my guitars with a trem so that may have something to do with it. You are already familiar with Mosrite pickups, the ones that are stock on the Hallmark are about the same soundwise. You can get the hand wound ones for an up charge. I tend to use fuzz and high gain distotion so the pick ups do buzz but it is nothing an ISP Decimator or a EHX HumDebugger can't fix.

Bob Shade is very easy to work with and responds to e-mails quickly, plus he ships very fast. I ordered mine on a Wednesday and got it on Friday. It was set up perfectly right out of the box. I think you will be satisfied.

I wish my Mosrite neck had a little more girth as well, it's hard to go from the baseball bat neck on my Esquire, to the super slim Mos. Thanks for the pickup tip, I'll contact Bob Shade.

Are all the saddles loose? Check your local hardware store or crafts store for thin copper sheets. I found them in squares about 5" x 7". They were thin enough to cut with scissors. Something like that would probably make a nice shim either under all the saddles or individual ones. If you really want to maximize your string to body contact, you could also consider one of the early one piece flip mute bridges. Bob Shade puts them on his 59 Custom model, and Ed Elliott has them on his RS and Maphis style guitars.
