Greets from North Cacalacky

Postby morphball » Mon Jan 25, 2010 4:48 pm

Hi, I'm a recent Mosrite initiate, and I've have been lurking around here ever since I started catching the fever for one almost a year ago. I currently own a MIJ Mosrite "Excellent" '65 (pictured below next to my SGV800), and I'm about to replace the bridge with one of Bob Shade's locking ones, and also try the plastic washer trick I saw in this forum in order to stiffen the trem arm.

If this pic looks familiar, I'm also a regular at SG101; I do recognize a few peeps here. This Japanese beauty is my main squeeze now (had to sell my strat to buy it, but it was totally worth it), and the only way I'd sell this one is to buy a vintage '65 Ventures model. Anyway, pleased to meet you folks.

Having guitars like those two beauties must make you feel happy! Welcome and thanks for showing us.
BTW what function is assigned to the third control knob on your SGV800, assuming that the other two are meant for volume and tone adjustments :?

Thanks! They do play well together; different sounds with similar formats. By the way, the bridge transplant was a success; they're not as Mosritey as I'd like, but it's a direct drop-in like some here have said. Hallmark string spacing seems to be a little wider than an Excellent, both E's are still on the neck though, so probably nothing to worry about.

It's a factory configuration: 1. neck tone, 2. volume, 3. bridge tone (which is really 2 too many tones for my needs, but I still like these Yamaha's a lot).

Hi wellcome to the forum.

I have a SGV800 too. The knobs arrange is not the best. When you use the switch in middle (both pickups) position each volume´s knob affects both pickups at the same time.
