Ed Roman is simply a distributor (read retailer) for Fillmore.

Fillmore JR models have a Ramones logo on the headstock and I believe are no longer in production. They also have stamped serial numbers that correspond to a certificate of authenticity.

The other Japanese JR model has the Ventures II logo on the headstock and are readily available and still in production. These I believe have been made by Kurokumo since the '90s.

Also, supposedly GPC misrepresented themselves as being the real Mosrite when they got Johnny to agree to endorsing those 25 or 30 instruments they put out.

Johnny, Yusa and Fillmores (including the serial number of a special guitar given to Nick Cage by Johnny):

yeah sorry. i knew roman was a distributor. i just said it incorrectly since he's apparently the only one in the u.s. you are correct about them no longer being in production, though they're going to make a clone now called the cbgb (i think) that's supposedly going to be the exact same as the johnny ramone. apparently fillmore's contract expired with johnny ramone's estate and they won't renew. i was more curious about how they played compared to mine and how both compared to the original. mine was billed as being the real mosrite. that i remember. i feel like it was either a loretta thing or semie having sold the rights to whoever actually made my guitar. i do forget alot of the details though and guitar punk is no longer in business. i'm working on getting more details from that segment as well. mine has a different type serial number (no jr). i'm not sitting next to it, but i think it's like 8076 of something. i actually had flav (the guy that ran guitar punk) send me a different dimarzio, because the original hardware was incorrect to spec. i wonder how many, if any, others caught on to that . . . guess i might have the only blueprint JR mosrite.

i'm just trying to get more information.

and hi everybody. thanks for the nice welcome. i also play (not just own, but actually use) a prs that was custom built for some other guy (my main guitar), a fender strat i modified (humbucker in the bridge and two texas specials), an epiphone les paul standard (that needs the pickups switched out), an epiphone les paul studio with a bigsby bridge i had put on, a g&l asat classic bluesboy semi hollow, a fender dreadnought acoustic, and some weird rickenbacker that i've never been able to identify. pretty sure that's it.

Sounds like quite the Guitar collection you have. What does the Rickenbacker look like? I'm not as knowledgeable about Rickenbacker as I am about Mosrite but I may have seen your kind of Rick before. Oh and Ed isn't the only Mosrite dealer in America, I should have said this before. Artie of Front Porch Music carries them and he is a member of this forum as bakeoboy. You should check out some of the pictures of his store, He has quite a Mosrite collection.

the rick is a solid body (kinda thin) wood grain (unpainted), black humbucker boxy looking pickups. i can't really do much better than that. it's sitting at my mom's house, so i'll have to wait on posting a picture. i'll probably get it on thursday and bring it out to my place.

i checked out front porch a little bit this morning. what's up with ed roman claiming all over his website that he's the sole mosrite dealer in the u.s.?

hey veenture, i'm just looking to find a place to get a vintage mosrite or the next best thing (which i guess is currently the dana wound pickups fillmore version), but i guess ed roman ain't it. i just wish front porch had a more user friendly website.

thanks midwest . . . hopefully i can pick up another mosrite soon!
