I play lead in a surf/oldies band, The Vel Crows, and I have been a Mosrite fan since 1963. That's obviously because of the Ventures. I could never afford a Mosrite and I was especially fond of Nokie's bound - body 63. However, there is something about the white guitars they played on their early Japan tours (many views on youtube) ...
Years ago I saw a damaged and unfinished 63 bound-body sidejack (bare body) on ebay and I paid way too much for it. I repaired the missing pieces of the body binding and took on the primer and paint myself. (Wimbledon white.).... It took many weeks.
I bought a new/unused 1988 V-88 neck and decaled it as a Ventures model. E.F. Elliott himself wound me two pickups at 13,500 ohms each (!!!)
and I had a custom tort pickguard and TRC made in New York. It has NOS correct tuners.
I got a switch and correct knobs from Zamm and had a luthier set it all up. He did add a vintage NOS neckplate and screws because we could not get the neck to set up correctly as a set-neck.
I have played it on many gigs and it sounds just like the Ventures Live in Japan, and it is a dream to play.
I have started a 1966 Mark V in the same process as above.

I also am a Big Ventures fan and think the Live in Japan '65 is the Pinacle of their Careers. The Mosrite partnership was a Win-Win for the Ventures and Semie. The Mystique surrounding that Guitar on the back of those albums was perfect timing. I also believe the Playability and Tone put Nokie over the top.I own three Sunburst Ventures, a set-neck and two bolt necks. Even with those Great Sunburst Guitars I couldn't resist getting a Pearl White Hallmark 60 Custom. It's a Great representation of the Classic Mosrite with wonderfull refinements. There is something about true "Pearl White" and Tortoise Shell that gives it that "Stunning" appearance. Those few years of The Ventures and Mosrite has stood the test of Time and still influences the market now. Now I'm off to give "The Ventures Live in Japan '65" another spin

...heh heh, I like the sound of "Wimbledon White" Nice intro BTW, welcome to the forum by yet another long time Ventures fan (yeah, they're worldwide).

My Mosrite guitar is still waiting on the covers of my Ventures albums after all these years but I finally bought a supurb substitute eight months ago; a Hallmark 60 Custom Sunburst and still very happy with it.

Wimbledon White !!! WoW!!! I have NEVER heard anyone mention Wimbledon White! Sorry for being in shock, but
that happens to be the EXACT Color Description of the interior of our 1966 Ford T-Bird Sports Roadster !
