Visiting with Ed Sanner

Postby Bob Shade » Mon Feb 22, 2016 10:22 am

Hello all,

While on the west coast I shot up to visit with Ed Sanner former Mosrite pedal and amp designer, and also designer of the NU-FUZZ.

We shared some good stories and talked about future projects. Thought I would share a couple of pics of Ed with his set up. He has two Sanner amps he built for himself, and a Hallmark II with full size pickups. He says he really loves the Hallmark sound and playability.

It is moments like these where you feel like you have done something right.

Very cool, Bob. Are those amps solid state? What do they sound like?

Excellent Hallmark II there too! Great colors.

Yes the Sanner amps are all solid state. He has designed a different circuit that has a warm tone, similar to a tube amplifier. They are different than the Mosrite amps if you have ever hear one of those.

He originally was going to build tube amps for Mosrite, but they insisted he make solid state amps as that was the new thing at the time. So he studied up on them and the rest is history.

There are guys who seek out his newer Sanner amps. They are usually sort of pricey even used for a solid state amplifier.

Best, Bob
