New Hallmark 60 Custom
Posted: Thu Oct 27, 2011 12:10 pm
On Monday I called Bob Shade at Hallmark with a few questions about the 60 Custom and decided to order one.
I placed my order and within two hours FEDEX already had it in their possession, I received it at noon Wednesday.
I quickly unpacked it and was pleased with what I saw, Fire Sparkle in all its glory. I examined the finish carefully
and it was flawless. And, much to my surprise it was in tune.
I began checking things I remembered from other peoples reviews:
Thin neck
Low action
Thin frets
Intonation right on
Smooth Vibrato
Yep, I had the right guitar.
I plugged into my amp which was set up for a Telecaster and had to turn the volume down for the Hallmark.
Hot pickups ? Yes, with a little bit of growl.
I played for the rest of the afternoon and was "Happier than a groundhog in loose dirt" (Jed Clampett)
I also found that if I lighten up with my left hand it sounds much better. I am working on that.
As I said in my introductory post I lurked on this forum for a month trying to decide what to buy,
thanks to all who contribute to this forum. I've read tons of your posts......
Thanks to Bob Shade for answering my questions and making a great guitar.
...and it's STILL in tune !
