My wife surprised me with a new Hallmark....

After powerwashing and staining my 16' x 22' deck today, I came inside and went into the living room...my wife gave me a hug...as I looked over her shoulder I saw leaning against the wall a rectangular box... :o ...when I saw the word Hallmark on it, I knew she had surprised me bigtime!

I couldn't believe my eyes....as I opened the box, I first encountered a beautiful case......when I opened up the case I saw a gorgeous pearl white custom 60 with a tortoise shell pickguard...

Exactly the one I would have ordered myself.........I noticed that the high E string was broken, and as I picked on the remaining 5 strings, I also noticed a buzz vibration when I played the D string on the 3rd fret....

I thought I'd get new strings tomorrow, put on the new E string, make sure it was in tune, and see what it did then, before I call Bob for advice.........or if anyone in the forum has gotten a Hallmark with the same vibration, please tell me what you did to alleviate the buzz.....

It's really beautiful, and I'd probably never have done more than dream of owning one....and my wife knew that and decided I'd have one after all, so ordered the last one in stock, and it came while I was out back working on the deck....

Great surprise! :D

That is a wonderful story Roger...and a wonderful wife to have! Enjoy your H60C, at last you have one too! :P
Doing a quick check on my H60C, I discovered that the D string buzzes on the 5th fret...never really noticed it before :?
Perhaps raising the bridge slightly could eliminate the buzzing. Does your Pearl White have the soft curves on the treble horn? (latest models).

Congrats. Since we are perhaps no more than 10 mins away from each other, we should jam!

I picked up some strings today and put a new high "E" string on my new Hallmark....tuned it up, and plugged it in.........wow.....totally awesome! The buzzing was gone, no vibrations..

It does play like a dream, and the sound is outstanding! I'll take some pics soon and try to post them.......

Great news - enjoy that guitar - I can't remember the last guitar my wife actually bought for me - matter of fact, I can't remember the first one, either ... You have 2 keepers there, man!

Typical of thin-necked guitars...a broken string changes the total tension on the neck enough to cause a buzz...take note of the gauge of string used, (usually .046 to .010") If your decide to opt for a different gauge, take the guitar in for a set-up, or you may be disappointed in the result, especially if you go down to .042 - .009". The difference in total tension at pitch is significant, and thin necks respond to tension changes more easily than "chunky" necks.

Enjoy your new guitar!
