I just spotted a white Hallmark 60 Custom on E-Bay for $500 if anybody's interested.
Includes alligator case.

Hey, Hallmark Fans!

Last night, what may become my new band got together, and Frank, the lead guitar player, whom I had not previously met, was already playing when I got there. He was playing one of those solidbody Gibson RDs; you don't see too many of those.

When I unpacked my Hallmark 60 Custom, he stopped playing and said, "What in the heck is THAT?!?!?!"

The other guy there, whom I've known for many years, said, "That's Jim's newest baby, and Jim always plays the coolest guitars you've never seen." That isn't true, but I do prefer to go my own way when it comes to guitars. Strats, Teles, and Les Pauls have never really appealed to me.

After a few minutes, Frank asked if he could play the Hallmark. I handed it over and he hits a few chords and says, "Hey, this is NICE!!! What kind of strings are these?" I explained they were flatwound Chrome 10s, which I use on both the 60 Custom and Stradette.

Well, Frank is much impressed, I do believe, especially with the action all the way up the neck.

One other thing that he mentioned is that he felt that the Hallmark was the first electric he had ever played that had the solid quality feel of a Martin acoustic neck. I thought that was interesting, as that is one of the aspects that I also like about the Hallmarks I have.

Sounds good Jim , looks like you and Frank hit it off there. The hallmark seems a really nice guitar , the tip about flatwound chromes I will bear in mind when my current set gets old . I'll give them a try next ! Yep New band is an exciting time ... I'm kinda envious myself :-) jv

Hey, Juan--

Thanks for the kind words. Yep, those flatwounds are real nice on the right guitar. Here's the exact info on them:
D'Addario ECG23 Chrome Extra Light Electric Guitar Strings (.010/.048)
$8.49 (Musician's Friend)

Take care--

For anyone in the market, currently on E-bay is a sunburst 60 Cusom with tortuse (sp) shell pick-guard. It looks new and the pick-guard is interesting. $700 with case.

Here's the eBay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/HALLMARK-CUSTOM-60- ... 4cebec0d1d

Wow, nice one…very tempting to buy but I already have a sunburst one too -with white pick guard, which is closer to the Mosrite Ventures sunburst model of the sixties which I have always so desired. The serial no. on mine is only a handful of digits away from this one!

Here is yet again an opportunity to get ‘that desired guitar’ for a price that is still very low at this time...and in excellent condition!
