Aaron asked:

Well, I always felt that Julie Newmar fell into that category.

I think they should use the theme from "The Outer Limits" as their theme song. Yep, this is ceird-wool!

I had my Deke and Sheena out last night and was loving them so much that I may just get crazy and get a 60 Custom in red, silver, and blue metallic. I had been thinking about the Wing Bat but I think this is more my style. Ahh, I promised I would sell at least one more before getting anything else though, hmmmm...

Eltuce,
I assure you...you will not regret getting a 60 Custom. Call Bob Shade (go to Hallmark website) and verify the availability of the red/silver/blue finish...they may be sold out.

Here's more Man or Astroman? featuring the Hallmark 60C:

They are considered a surf band, and most of the music is instrumental, but a lot of their later stuff is much "punkier" and experimental.
Progressive punk surf?

Uh-oh, didn't even think of the possibility that they would be out of that finish. Nice clips of Man-or-Astroman. I'm actually very familiar with the band.

The next thing I know his road to ruin model is really close to the exact guitar I wanted. I'm glad I got this one first though, now I have an excuse to have both. I will need to do some mods though. I know I just hurt a few feelings out there... sorry.

Also - sorry for the blurry pic. I'll get a better one. You get the idea though.

This looks very like the guitar displayed by mosriteguitars on this forum, that is apparently one of the ones that were built by Semie as prototypes for a Ramones Custom that never made it into production because the Grim Reaper came calling as we all know. Here's his link: time to drool!

Yours has a different pickup and a 'German Carve' but is otherwise close to my 'dream guitar' (that keeps changing!)
I was thinking of asking Bob what it would cost to have him build a flat-top (no carve, like a MK II) but with the regular Mk I profile and a Les Paul Jr. pickup layout that has been so serviceable to our LP Jr. gang up here, (I'd want it with the infinitely superior Hallmark pickup: I know,'cause I have a '56 LP Jr. and Bob's puts it to shame.) I am having so much fun with the no-hassle whammy bar that I would probably put that on too.
How's yours play? I presume you have the standard glued neck?

Guitars worth mentioning at the moment:

Hallmark Custom 60 (my fave)
Gretsch Clipper 1968, retrofitted Bigsby B3
Danelectro U-56 wearing flatwounds
MIM 50's reissue Strat (covered with autographs collected at gigs for years)
Republic Guitars Steel Duolian biscuit bridge set up for straight-tune slide
Gibson Les Paul Jr. 1956, old, mean and ugly
1983 Fender MIJ Esquire (tough as nails)
Seagull Grand 14-fret almost-parlor
Regal (China) tricone
2008 Melody Maker for when I don't feel like risking the LP Jr.
(as you can see, I don't leave myself much time for watching TV, but that's a good thing!)

Well, I just pulled the trigger and bought the 60 Custom in red, blue, and silver sparkle. I was debating customizing it but decided it's a classic just as is. So this will be number 3 for me in the Hallmark corner!
