We have made some very minor improvements over the vintage originals to boot as you will notice in the images. These will be available very soon. Thanks for the interest!

Minor improvements like the bridge position?

Oh, another question comes to mind: What wood is the body?

Hey-bob-dennis here from knoxville-your website is having issues-for some reason it is coming up to a generic page-not the hallmark site. I typed in "hallmarkguitars.com" and it just reads that "this is a future homepage" Will get in touch in the next few weeks when I get my ducks lined up so I can get one or possibly 2 of these sheena's-Thanks-Dennis

Aren't original slab bodies basswood not alder?

Also I can't access your website. Looks like your domain name is not owned.

Yes the original wood used was basswood, not that it was the greatest idea. Basswood is not considered a good tonal wood. The first guitars made by Mosrite were alder in the 50's and up till 1963. The first Ventures models were alder and man they sing! That was part of the Ventures sound. Mosrite went to basswood because it is cheap, and carves easily for mass production of carved tops. It really is a glorified balsa wood.

If you are concerned about getting the original tone with the Sheena, don't. It gets it, and much more. Here at Hallmark we are always looking for the best options for the player and are striving to improve these models without taking anything from the vibe.

Thank you for your interest,

Bob

Probably would be a better idea to email Bob, but oh well.

Hey could you do a video or something of the Sheena when you get it? It'd be cool to see it in action.
