I understand and agree with you not wanting to put that type of data online. My solution is to have one credit card dedicated to "online" transactions. If you can do that you can keep a close eye on that account and immediately see if the account has been touched. At that point you call the lender and raise he!! They have worked with me before on a similar matter and were really interested in taking care of it. It didn't cost me a dime.

Re: Hallmark Inquiries
That's a pretty good idea. Does anybody know if Mr. Shade takes credit cards?

Actually, the chances of that is pretty slim. Most people who get scammed on PayPal are people who use it exclusively, and 9 times out of 10 they are the ones leaving themselves open to attack. The site is security encrypted, they have to be since they handle thousands of transactions (or more) every day. Yes, sometimes people have been screwed but they also have been taken care of by Paypal. In other words DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!
Imagine what it was like before the internet or Paypal. If someone got you account information you wouldn't know about it till you saw your monthly statements. Now you can see it instantly and take the appropriate action.
All you do is got to the PayPal site, open and account using either your credit card or bank info and your done. After you made your purchase and got the guitar, just cancel the account.

I have to agree with Vincent on this one. I've used PayPal over 400 times, to and fro, and no problems. Also, and this may not be true nowadays, at one time PayPal paid a heck of a lot higher interest on money on deposit in that account than Bank of America paid for my savings account there.
I used to have a bandmate pal who worried that folks were using the spigot outside his house to get free water that he had to pay for.
It really bothered him.

Re: Hallmark Inquiries
Hello all,
Back from NYC, what a great event! Will post some pictures soon.
I just wanted to say, we have never had anyone complain about Paypal in regards to having any problems whatsoever. It is safe, convenient and reliable and PRIVATE. Thats why we use it.
We have offerred it for about 8 years now and had thousands of transactions. While anything can happen with any system including checks, cash, money orders, credit cards and Paypal, I believe out of all of these, Paypal is the safest way to pay. Again this is why we use it.
Do I hear the spigot running?
Best regards, Bob Shade

Re: Hallmark Inquiries
Okay, maybe I'll reconsider getting a paypal account.
Also, another question. Mr. Shade, did you design the 60 Custom intending it to be a 1964-ish Mosrite clone? Or were you just playing around with the design to see what you could come up with?

Re: Hallmark Inquiries
Fishyfish, concerning the design of the Custom 60;
I have read elsewhere on this site that Mr. Shade owns a '65 that he used for the body sculpturing. He then went back to the set-neck, body binding, and alder body wood, all features of the earlier (63-64) models. Somebody correct me here if i'm not accurate. He kept the neck adjustment at the body because he preferred the cleaner headstock. His own design for the bridge and vibrato were simply improvement to the existing units (IMO). The pick-ups only differ from the originals in that they are potted, which make them both quieter and, again in my opinion, more articulate. The neck is slim but very comfortable, particularly as you get away from "nut". I had the chance last weekend to compare some measurements against a '65 Ventures model, and found that the string spacing at the zero fret is only 1/16" wider on the Hallmark. Playing an A minor at the "nut" is difficult on both instrument if your fingers haven't limbered up.
By the way, my buddy with the Mosrite ordered a Custom 60 the next day. He doesn't like taking the Mosrite out to gigs any more because of some tuning problems and a bridge rattle that he can't nail down. Needless to say, I told him about Hallmark's replacement bridge.
Don
ps: I told him that I would be happy to give his guitar a good home if it should come to that. The thing is really in mint condition.
