Re: Hallmark Owner's Corner!

Personally, I like the sharper curves if for no other reason than it differentiates the Hallmark from the other clones. Well, that and the sound, the feel, and the general overall quality of the guitar. As of June 27th I will have had my C60 for one year. After 50 years of playing Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, Ibanez, etc, I finally have an instrument that fits all of my needs and looks like a million dollars to boot. My "Mosrite" is more than I expected and, after a year, still hard to put away at night. I'm addicted to that neck.
Thanks Mr. Shade, for the guitar that I never thought I would own.
Don

WOW - no posts in the Owner's Corner in over a year. What's up with that? Is everyone tired of their Hallmarks??? How is that possible?
I suppose I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my Custom 60, but I LOVE THIS GUITAR!

Come on you guys and gals, let's hear some news, stories, pictures, videos, etc, etc about your guitars. (especially Custom 60s) :)

Let me ask you guys a question regarding a problem that I've encountered with my Custom 60. I played my first gig with it a couple of weeks ago, and after a particularly "aggressive" glissando, I started hearing an odd plink coming from my low E string. Luckily I was near the end of the song and limped through. My first thought was that I broke a string, but how often do you break the "low" E? Then I saw that the string had jumped off of the saddle.

It has not happened since, but I'm wondering if I can expect that it will and if so, what can be done about it. Should I maybe go to a heavier gauge string, like from 10s to 11s?

Nice to hear from you!

Well first try telling the string not to jump. This may help.

Bob

But seriously, this was most likely a one time event. First I have heard of it.

Thanks, Bob, but -
Your suggestion will not work for me. I've tried REPEATEDLY talking to my strings and they NEVER listen. If they did, I'd be a MUCH better player! :D

It could be that you're right about it being a one time event. I'll have to watch that adrenaline rush when I'm playing and try to not get so aggressive.

Hey, Rob--

Funny you mention that string-jumping-off-the saddle thing; that happened one time to me. I can't remember if it was with one of my Hallmarks or one of my Mosrite Celebrities. I also had a high-E string jump out of the string guide one time.

I think it was just me being overpowering in the early days of my Hallmark/Mosrite playing. Hasn't happened since.

It probably won't happen anymore.

Good luck!

Jayson, you may want to call in the String Whisperer. They say he can do wonders, though it might cost a bundle.

Good luck, in any case--
